Connecting Citizens to Infrastructure Policy: Jim Bailey to Lead CoSA Transport Commission

Congratulations to Senior Principal Jim Bailey, AIA, on his appointment as Chairman of San Antonio’s new Multimodal Transportation Commission.

Jim’s leadership on this newly formed CoSA commission reflects a long-standing commitment to thoughtful planning, safe mobility, and connected communities. We look forward to the impact this commission will have as it advances a more accessible, comfortable network of streets for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders across San Antonio.

According to Jim, “Over the last couple of years, through various robust community-driven processes, the City of San Antonio has adopted several plans related to safe streets, the link between transportation and affordable housing, and healthy neighborhoods. As chair, I hope to help the Commission act as a conduit between our neighbors and City policymakers as we collectively do the hard work of implementing the improvements to our infrastructure that San Antonians have demanded.”

As a recent example of the firm’s commitment to both community engagement and the importance of greater access to public transport, our permanent supportive housing community at Four25 San Pedro opened in January of this year. The multifamily building offers an opportunity for families experiencing homelessness to lease an apartment of their own. A VIA transit shelter is a permanent feature of the building’s exterior public realm, expanding economic opportunity and adding stability for a vulnerable segment of the population. Congratulations, Jim, on this opportunity to bring your insight and leadership to the shaping of City infrastructure policy.
