The Hill Country Clinic’s location suggested an architectural vocabulary and palette of materials drawn from this much-loved part of rural Texas. “We leaned into the regional sense of place,” notes senior principal Mike Lanford, AIA. Local limestone on the entry tower contrasts cleanly with corrugated aluminum cladding, a contemporary combination of natural and manmade materials. A port-cochère and pergola provide shade for arriving patients and visitors. Patients waiting areas offer comfortable seating, abundant natural light, and views to the landscape – adding to a sense of well-being. Furniture and finishes contribute to a sense of calm and comfort, with material specifications keyed toward durability and clinical cleanliness.
