Connecting two well-known centers of excellence: UT Health and UTSA.

Located on The University of Texas at San Antonio Park West Campus on Kyle Seale Parkway, this new Outpatient and Surgery Center is a collaboration between UTSA and UT Health San Antonio to leverage shared capabilities and expertise.

Offering a comprehensive range of primary care, specialty care, and surgical services, this clinic plays a pivotal role in meeting the healthcare needs of residents primarily residing in the northwest region of San Antonio and Bexar County.

According to Ariel Chavela, “the building is carefully sited so that, at five stories tall, it has ideal visibility to freeway traffic – a commanding profile.” The building exterior is composed of brick and stucco, responding to established and evolving UTSA campus design language. Ample windows provide natural light and Hill Country views; exposure and heat gain are controlled with roof projections and awnings. The building also features careful integration to adjacent ongoing development by UTSA, which will feature complementary uses and services for the clinic and its patients.

The multidisciplinary clinic offers the UTSA campus community (as well as the general public) convenient access to the prestigious UT Health medical system. The building will offer primary care and specialties such as orthopedics sports medicine; physical therapy; physical medicine and rehabilitation; obstetrics and gynecology; gastroenterology; ear, nose, and throat treatment; and ophthalmology. Services offered will include ambulatory surgery, imaging services, and the latest diagnostic pathology laboratory testing.

“Each experience with healthcare projects focuses our team to listen with intention to individual internal stakeholder groups,” says Briana Gutierrez. “With UT Health’s clinic, located at the UTSA Park West campus, we worked to maximize flexibility within the medical building envelope, while maintaining a sense of architecture – light and volume to prioritize a sense of wellbeing.”
