Neiman Marcus wrote the book on jet-set retail glamour; we helped them write a new chapter.

Design savvy is in the DNA of Neiman Marcus, both as a luxury retailer and as an architecture client. We tapped into this keen understanding, developing a strong rapport that supported exploration. As a result, our stores in Fort Worth and Austin are innovative and uniquely part of their contexts, but both express the sophisticated personality of this venerable brand.

Neiman Marcus Austin – The Domain
Our Austin store anchors the north end of The Domain’s original street, a new mixed-use development created by Simon Properties Group. This 84,000 square foot resort-sized facility, at the pinnacle of the site and surrounded by primary approach roads to the development, addresses the differing views of itself from freeway speed, Main Street views and primary access approaches through scale of differing architectural elements and color and massing.

Neiman Marcus Fort Worth – The Shops at Clearfork
In our second project with NM, we designed a two-story, 95,000-SF Neiman Marcus store in the new Shops at Clearfork retail development in Fort Worth. Inspired by the texture of fabric, we specified a bespoke exterior of patterned pre-cast concrete. The Alamo team worked closely with a specialized precast fabricator to create a one-of-a-kind series of textures and patterns that subtly evoke a sparkling white ribbon elegantly gift-wrapping the building. Several of the concrete panels feature white and clear hand-broken quartz that glistens through the day as the sun moves around the building.

Neiman Marcus has always challenged us to do more within the context of the functional needs of a large, luxury department store. They are, unsurprisingly, a sophisticated client who always wants you to stretch.
