City of San Antonio Fire Station 48, a bold stroke of “fire engine red” metal cladding on a hill, is one of our favorite examples from recent archives. By pushing past expectations while being mindful of budget and building lifespan, we were able to give back to the community with a signature building.

The two-story Fire Station No. 1 is a prominent presence on its urban block. Contemporary architecture reflects the modern fire company housed within; highly trained professionals who provide 24/7/365 fire safety and emergency medical services.

Adding a branch library to a new fire station does more than maximize municipal resources; the combined Maury Maverick, Jr. Branch Library and Fire Station 49 elevates the profile of both community assets.
