Principals Jerry Lammers, AIA and Nicki Marrone, AIA lead our team of experts dedicated to innovation and excellence in design of learning environments for PreK – 12 schools. We also have an active network of consultants who support all aspects of school development.
Reflecting on over thirty years’ experience, Jerry notes, “My goal in leading school projects has always been to ‘bring architecture’ to school buildings; to explore ways to elevate educational spaces for the greater benefit of the
community as a whole: faculty, students, and families.”
Nicki adds, “In recent years, we find a growing receptiveness to breaking old norms; to finding opportunities small and large to design environments that support the whole child. We work to promote multiple modes of learning, social-emotional growth, and to foster an innate sense of belonging for each individual student with thoughtful architecture and interior design. For example, we allow for abundant natural light, connect interior spaces to the outdoor environment, and infuse spaces with color. Lately, we emphasize ways to foster social interactions with both communal and small-group shared spaces, a trending concept in school design. As a team, we share a sense of advocacy in delivering more than just rooms and corridors, but an innovative, healthy, and ultimately safe learning environment for students and teachers.”
We are very proud of the wide-ranging portfolio of school facilities the Alamo Architects PreK-12 team has designed. With 30 years’ experience, we have developed strategies to deliver the best possible buildings within the set parameters of public school budgets.
Actively listening and responding resourcefully has earned us the trust of school boards of prominent districts in our area. Our firm has forged long-term relationships with districts and select charter schools, leading to design for over 32 PreK-12 educational facilities on 20 school campuses, including several multi-phased campus renovations and new campus developments.
“Innovative design for schools is an opportunity to create a profound, positive impact on the daily lives of students, and especially on the well-being of faculty, who will teach in the facilities year after year,” says Nicki. “Inspired by recent success with Sonia Sotomayor High School, among others, we are eager for fresh opportunities to share our specialized expertise in design for education with more school communities.”
As a team, we share a sense of advocacy in delivering more than just rooms and corridors, but an innovative, healthy, and ultimately safe learning environment for students and teachers.
